English Wild Game Birds

These game birds come mainly from the county in the south eastern corner of England called Kent, it is also known as the "Garden of England". This predominantly rural area of rolling farmland interspersed with woodlands owned by the forestry commission is a virtual paradise for the wild game birds of England. Here the birds freely roam and grow plump among a plentiful supply of food, safe from all, except perhaps, the foxes, until the shooting season. Having an open and closed season ensures that stocks of birds are never depleted. The following list shows the varieties of birds available and their open season (ie the time when they are available for shipping):-

Pheasant - Opens October 1st and closes February 1st.
Partridge - Opens September 1st and closes February 1st.
Duck -
Opens September 1st and closes February 1st.
Pigeon - no closed season
Guinea fowl - although available around the end of November, it is very limited in supply.

All birds will have been hung for 4-5 days prior to being dressed, individually packed on trays and vacuum packed to ensure freshness. The individual birds are then packed in corrugated cartons and strapped for shipping .

Because these birds are wild their dressed weights vary, so below are weighed averages of the different varieties:-
Pheasant : hens - 500g, cocks - 1000g(hens 1lb 1oz, cocks 2lb 2oz)
Partridge - 250g (8.5oz)
Duck (Mallard) - 500-750g (1lb 1oz - 1lb 10oz)
Wood Pigeon - 250g (8.5oz)
Guinea fowl - 1000g (2lb 2oz)

Please Note

These birds have been shot by shotgun and may contain shot. Every precaution has been taken to remove all shot whilst the birds are being dressed, however, the seller bears no responsibility for any shot that may remain once the product has been packed. The seller assumes that the purchaser is aware that shot may be present and that the act of purchase indemnifies the seller from any and all future litigation.

We recommend that intersted buyers register their possible requirements well in advance of the season to avoid disappointment. Orders will be executed on a first come first served basis.
