Taste Characteristic sweet and nutty flavour with a fragrant aroma
Appearance Yellow/straw colour with no free fat, mottling or other surface blemishes
Texture Firm and pliable, elastic with numerous eyeholes throughout the cheese
Packaging Available in 2.5kg, 5kg and 60kg blocks, also available in grated (100g - 5kg packs), diced and sliced form
 
Storage Store the product under chilled and dry conditions. Cheese should not be exposed to direct sunlight or strong odours
 
Transport For a typical short sea/inland transport journeys a 20/40 foot semi insulated container holding 20/22 tonne loads. For longer journeys butter should be moved in refrigerated 20/40 foot containers or in conventional refrigerated vessels.
 
 
 
Shelf Life Typically 3 months for cheeses blocks and 40-70 days for grated, sliced and diced cheese when stored under appropriate chilled conditions
 
Applications Emmental is suitable for table use and a wide variety of food ingredient applications including bakery, confectionery and other convenience food products. Suitable for cutting, slicing and grating
